Project Oddie
Project Oddie
It's called that because the farmer I bought it from looked suspiciously like Bill Oddie - unfortunately I don't have a picture of him..
This is the bike when I found it in May
It was uncared for in a barn and covered in bat guano
This is what happened next - with much help and advice from the forum, and a little help from my youngest son - thanks everyone
And this is what it looked like after being powder coated - still waiting for the tank though.
It was shotblasted undercoated and had two top coats of RAL 6020 with 70% satin finish
Now I just need to remember where everything goes ... no doubt I'll test your patience with lots more stupid questions, but I'll post photos as I go with the rebuild - don't hold your breath - this may take a while ...

Re: Project Oddie
Looks good so far.
You will get there Nick.
Mine is nearly done, taken me 2 plus years hence why I call it, "Perserverance".
Persy for short.
This forum is brilliant..without it I would not be as far as I am.
So fire away with those questions, always someone to help no matter how daft(to you) the
question.
Happy Building

Re: Project Oddie
I hadn't really given the panniers much thought yet - it seems a long way off til I'll be wanting to fit them - but I'd be keen to end up with some eventually - do you want to part with yours?

Re: Project Oddie
Thought it was time to post an update on my 500 project - it's been a while, but I've busy with work, moving house, kids, and all that other stuff that gets in the way of what we all really want to do all day
http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicksmt500 ... otostream/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've since got the engine back in, and am busy trying to remember where everything goes now
Thanks a lot to all those who have helped me enormously by answering my naive questions - this is the first time I've done anything like this and it's been great fun so far, and a huge learning curve for me - no doubt lots more questions to follow when I can't start her
