Llanfyllin Bunkhouse April 27th

Post by Bonnielad » Mon Jan 07, 2019 10:33 pm

I've now had confirmation from The Workhouse so we are in and confirmed. Last year was enjoyed by all so it is back by popular demand.
Same price as last year: £15 per person per night, regardless of where we sleep (bunkhouse dormitory rooms/motorhome/back of your van/tent)
Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday (at extra cost. I think it was £8 last year but massive and well worth it).
They are also offering evening meals this time, and the same arrangement of buying beer in/bar open each evening. Personally, I prefer the idea of eating at the Workhouse because the walk into town is about 3/4 mile in darkness. I don't mind the walk but with members arriving at different times through the evening, late arrivals didn't know where to find us. Also, April in Wales means it could well be pissing it down
If we just want a ride out, that's fine but if there is enough interest I will try to find a suitable playground to arrange training/practice for the less-expert riders that would appreciate some tuition.
From this Friday I will be away for a couple of weeks so don't panic if I don't reply immediately. Back on 26th.

I am happy to lead a greenlane ride.
However, there is a slight chance I will be out of the country that weekend.
If I cannot make it I will cancel here as soon as I know.

This was a nice ride and IIRC the pub meal was nice (don't forget a torch for the walk back) as was the breakfast on the Sunday. There was some lovely pies on the Friday evening, I can't remember who sourced them but I had two and the bottles of beer were done on an honesty box basis as was the shower @ 50p a time. I'd love to come this year if I can make it.

I'm not sure if I can make this this year, I thought I was just getting old and weaker (well I'd never been 66 before) but after Mad Stu's Submarine races in Sussex recently I went to the Docs and they advise that I've damaged my shoulder and that is the reason I'm weak on the RHS (12 months it's been getting worse) and because I'd been favouring that shoulder it was affecting the LHS as well. I don't know how long it will take to repair, it could take 6 or even 12 months. It may be I need an op but I will have to wait and see. If I can't make it on the MT I may come on the CRM 250 as that is a lot lighter, the only trouble is I would have to kick that, no leccy boot! We'll See :-)

Weekend off for me. I plan in being there this year if the bike has not sold.
