Bought an MT500 from forum member twmtomos1 a while back now. What a nice bloke! His wife made my friend and me tea and sandwiches before the long journey back home from Anglesey to Slough. Rode it as it was for a couple of weeks. My friend Steve had been pestering me to paint it for me since we picked it up in his van! I finally gave in and stripped it down for him to paint and powdercoat nato green. Popped the dents out of the tank. Got a couple of better secondhand downpipes. While it was in bits I decided to replace all the bearings, seals, nuts and bolts, oil pipes etc. While all the bits were away I set about the engine. I replaced the rocker cover, generator cover and sump seals and sprayed the engine with Halfords satin black engine paint thinned with a bit of white spirit. Assembly began in earnest... 3 weeks to Christmas and my wife wanted the dining room back! I repaired the loom with some new wires, connectors and heat proof sleeving. Assembly was fairly straightforward. I managed to break the back brake drum trying to remove the bearings, but thanks to P I STALKER I managed to get a refurbished one. There is loads of good information available on this site. Thanks to the people who helped me with parts... also the people who helped me without knowing, by posting 'how to's' etc. The bike is now my regular commuting bike.
