my little bimble in the lakes or see what you missed!

Post by bth2bth2 » Sat Nov 24, 2012 5:58 pm

hi all,
put 180mls in today.weather was good,no rain and a little hazy winter sun...oh and a little snow.
set off at 9:00 , the drive up to bowness was a tad chilly so was glad of a quick stop .gloves warmed on the engine..nice. headed out to the langdale valley, very little motorised traffic but masses of cycles...there was a bit of an event on. road on passed the dungeon gylle hotel then up over to blea tarn. came upon the junction with the wrynose road and hit road closed signs.
signs ignored (am on an mt and nothing stops me)and carried on up....and up ,thinking what all the fuss was about, then nearing the top of the pass came across a car completely sideways across the road another embedded in a bank and another just abandoned  there must have been a touch of ice last night...tee hee. i passed the road block on the fell side then parked up at the top. a couple of minutes later a guy came by on a yam 250 tdr two stroke from the hardknot direction. he also ignored the signs at the other end...great minds think alike. :D we had the whole road to ourselves. :D :D
had a fag ,took some pics then it was on to the hardknot pass. no real issues a bit of snow and some great views. passed the roman fort ,guys out shooting and a hound race. if youve never seen one its quite funny watching dogs going in every direction except the right one.
on through eskdale ,santon bridge and on to wasdale. here the sun shone through the clouds, reflecting off the lake....double nice. had a bowl of very hearty soup at the hotel warmed myself in front of the fire then set off back home. at santon bridge ,instead of going back over hardknot i carried on over ulpha fell.this road comes out just before broughton in furness and from the top there is ,IMO, one of the best vistas of the high peaks. passed through the hamlet of ulpha and made my way home on the main roads.
photos to follow

a good day out.

Looks like a good day out.

I had 160 miles of pure rain today but ice on the tent last night. :(

Nice pictures, I like the screen. Have you documented the sourcing and fitting of this?

I dont think i have documented it. All it is ,is a piece of perspex or if you can find the safety perspex all the better, moulded by just heating with a heat gun to the shape you require. its then fitted to a piece of ally plate by means of screw and wing nuts. This makes removal for the odd offroad jaunt a cinch. The ally plate is attached by two screws to the headlight nacelle. It's suprising how good that fixing is . This is the 3rd model i have made and works a treat.

Hope this helps
