The start of what I hope will be a bundle of fun...
I found my MT500 quite by chance on a local farm
It has never been road registered, but has been used occasionally as a field bike- the guy who owned it said it had never become his main field bike because it's such a b****r to start - (now where have i heard that before?)
I borrowed a mate's cattle trailer to get it home - it looked quite silly attached to the back of my T reg VW Golf.......
Now I need to discover what the problems with it are......
My long-awaited MT500

Nice one mate. Let me have the vin plate details, frame number probably between 1215 - 1270. Have you got any paperwork? You can get copies from various places as you have the MOD registration number, the us easy at the DVLA. I can do a date cert for you but better to get copies of the originals.

Re: My long-awaited MT500
Good luck with getting the beastie on the road, and I'll look out for you. I got my first MT500 in January to use as a winter hack, and now have two and bit of the things (they're strangely addictive. It's also strange how ride home from work sometimes ends up including the odd by-way.
If you have any problems give me a shout; I'm just down the road, and I may be able to help.

Re: My long-awaited MT500
Thanks for the offer Chris
I've been busy taking it to bits and am cleaning and painting just about everything at the moment. I think I've managed to source all the parts I need - thanks to loads of good advice from here.
I may struggle when it comes to sorting the electrics as I think i went to sleep for most of my physics lessons at school but I'm hoping it's all just going to work!
I've not been riding bikes for the last 8 - 9 years and was getting frustrated by the delay - so I went an bought an MT350 from Withams. (I was teaching my 13 yr old how to ride it tonight - he's a natural !) I should be getting number plates for the 350 on Monday - I guess the addiction is getting a grip on me too...
See you on the lanes.....
