It would have been an SLR, thats what we took, but I was a REMF, maybe the chaps up front had the L85A1.

Points to note a modern army does not have small arms for the 80's, that will be once round the square at Brecon that you owe Andy :lol:

Yes we had SA80's with SUSAT sights but binned them off and got an AK as soon as possible. Better to have an inaccurate but reliable rifle with good stopping power(AK47) in a fire fight, than a very accurate one that doesn't work.........STOPPAGE!(SA80)
And yes many of them did find there way back to the UK.
