Project MT500 Twinshock Motorcrosser
Project MT500 Twinshock Motorcrosser
After doing a few classic twinshock motorcross meetings this year on blue i have decided to 'convert' a classic knackered green MT500 into a reconditioned twinshock motorcrosser.
At each event i was overwhelmed with the amount of interest blue created, plus my mates black MT500's too.
To that end i am going to build a purpose built classic twinshock motorcrosser. The MT 500 is perfect for this as it has drum brakes, it has a low centre of gravity/low seat height, reliable simple to maintain engine...
I'm going to do it blue as that seems to have become a bit of a trade mark thing for me but would welcome all your thoughts about colours etc etc...
Here's a pic before i get her stripped down!

Re: Project MT500 Twinshock Motorcrosser
There are quite a few classes but the one we ride in is Pre 85 with drum brakes front and rear and twinshocks.. Everyone laughed at us at scrutineering and turned a blind eye to the front discs a couple of years ago. Then they all moaned when we won! So out came the old front drums!Roy W wrote:What's the spec needed for these events then?

Re: Project MT500 Twinshock Motorcrosser
Longer swinging arm for more high speed stability.
Mount the twin shocks similar to where MZ mounted their's on their ISDT bikes circa 1983.
Finally don't wear the GREEN costume when welding!
All the best

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
