Also found a camp site with 2 chalets. One of the closest to Bastogne about 8km
But it's over the border in Luxembourg. Is that a problem ?

Non really took my fancy except campingtonny and that was mainly due to their website aimed at the international visitor with country translation. Seemed though on the expensive side but I understand that is Luxembourg!

I just used Google to translate the pages
Yes Camp Tony looks the best? Think we got spoilt in Normandy with that excellent chalet.

We did pay Ă‚ÂŁ15 a night each in Normandy though but saved money on food and had room for socialising
Which means we didn't go off to the pub.

Of course if anyone really wants to camp they can.

Their is of course the old Etap, now called Ibis budget in Luxemburg. According to Google map, around an hours ride to Bastogne and the war museum. The old Etap's are like the Travelodge in that you pay for the room and they serve a simple breakfast. Another option if the cabin will not allow us to book for less than a week.

I went on the Ibis' website and put in Bastogne and the answer was Luxembourg for the nearest. The group has 3 hotels in the city. Apart from camping I'm not sure how much cheaper we can get it. As from the 1st July you enter the 'high season' and places become more restrictive with the period of rent.

Yes as a group we have numbers on our side but a campsite isn't going to make much out of us all sharing, compared to a family booking a hut for the week. A hotel doesn't give a monkeys. I shall have a look at how much the ibis may cost.

Agreed we need to be back in the UK by the 1st July
Or it's going to be expensive and more difficult to get short term accommodation.
