How bad is your oil leak, and where is it coming from?
I just fixed one on my 604 engine, turned out to be a cracked and bent tappet cover.
If it's the head gasket then a slight s weeping is usual.
The overflowing carb will be either sticky floats or incorrect float height.
If it stops after tapping the side of the carb then a quick clean will fix this.

Need to clean and test the oil leaks its not that much just gets smokey when i stop. Looked at the leaking carb and it was the air screw. Went for a ride and now i no longer have a air screw:)Franc wrote:How bad is your oil leak, and where is it coming from?

Cleaned the bike there is no oil or smoke so must of been spillage. Carb is Fixed no leaks. The only thing now is a noise from the clutch. It maybe be that the bike has just sat for to long so will keep a eye on it. The clutch works fine theres just a noise between a scrape and a whine when taking off slowly from a stop. No noise any other times.

Do you have any details on the cheap ebay shocks you used on your build? My shocks are knackered and I've been trying to find something that will fit.

Great rebuild. Good looking job too. Another one saved.
Nice Vid. Are you sure that was a green lane? Last time I went to Cornwall the A30 looked something like that.
On the subject of your initial oil leak, the 500 is very fussy about its oil level. If it is even slightly overfilled it will spew out of the filler, down the frame and onto the engine. We've all got the T-shirt!
I would also like to know about the rear shocks. If you know what they are off, you might start a stampede.

The shock was SACHS GUZZI TWIN SHOCKS 750 CHROME cost Ā£40. There more of a road shock but that is fine for the back. When looking for shocks i only cared for length and price.
Going wales this year at some point want to wildcamp with my bike. Still need to do the 3 phase conversion and fix my belt slipping first.

The slipping timing belt will be down to a worn top pulley and possibly misaligned belt if a spacer behind the pulley is missing..
All bits in stock if you need them..

Checked the tensioner bearing and it was destroyed so getting a new one. Going with SKF Deep Groove Ball Bearing 6203-2RSH 17mm I.D, 40mm O.D Ā£5.
