Thanks for that. Unfortunately it seems it wasn't meant to be. Not only did my mate txt me an excuse as to changing his mind but after a ride home the bike has died and refuses to start. Still, there will be another time, hopefully not too far away.

Quick update: despite not long ago cleaning the earth point by the horn it was really corroded and filthy, an hour of cleaning wiring and the earths has got the bike running again. Might need to look at another way of earthing though as the horn mount seems too open to the elements. Either way, for now the trip is on hold.
