Re: Coast to coast 2012
Hi dave
I'm a newby from Malvern and would love to join you as this would be my first ride out in anger! Hence the stupid questions as follows.
Is there any follow up support, (like a truck and trailer) in the event off the worst?
What is the over night arrangements or do we make our own?
Likewise food?
Depending on work i may not be able to make all days, what be the location of the shropshire stop?
What tyres would be ok (got Knobblies T63's on at the moment and bl**dy awful on road).
Many Thanks
Mal Phillips

There is no support in the form of a truck / trailer but depending on the nature of the problem you will find that members will help each other out one way or another. You do need to repair your own punctures, so carry your own spare tubes and tools. Carry spare cables, plug, cam belt, chain link, bulbs etc.
We will be camping both on the Weds and Thurs, so you need a tent, mat, sleeping bag as a minimum.
Food, no need to bring any. We will be using pubs and you can buy a breakfast at a cafe on the Thurs morning and at the Bridges Hostel on the Friday morning.
The route is all on public roads, some of them are in poor condition. We will be riding mainly on very minor roads so road tyres, trials or what ever you have will suffice.
If you send me your email address I will send you a PDF with all the details, route sheets, locations of campsites etc.

Re: Coast to coast 2012
Hi Malkypaul
the support doesn't follow up, it's with you. One of the finest MT fettlers is coming along, he's built his own sidecar, has done numerous foreign trips on his MTs and speaks Welsh -failing that there's always Ellrider
I did the Pennine Way run last year on T63s and found them remarkably stable. The downside is of course that the wear rate is high. This year I'll be running Distanzias.
You're right to have concerns about your new bike, but if you can get out for a few rides beforehand, you'll either build up confidence in the bike or find out what needs fixing and take appropriate action.
See you there
Eric

Coast to Coast GPS files for routes
One of the members has had difficulty opening the 3 route files.
The originals are saved as a .gdb file
If anyone else has had difficulty opening them I have a version now saved as .gpx
If you want a copy in this latter format please let me know via email.
Thanks
Dave

Route Sheets for the C to C
With the Dragon Rally put to bed I am typing out daily route sheets for the C to C event which I am hoping will be more user friendly than the Garmin generated ones enclosed in the original event PDF. I am hoping to complete these in the next few days so if any members who will be on the run wants a set please contact me.
