I forget who originally said use a rachet strap, but I think they're far preferable than nasty hard edged spring compressors- more important when re-assembling your newly painted parts.
I've put this in the Video library (at the top of this page) in with the technical vids, scroll though to the 5th page to see it.

After rubbing down the tank getting it ready to get the dents out and paint. We found two 1mm holes in it. Any ideas as to what they are. They are the same size with no rust round them. Bit stumped.

You say there is no rust around them is that true on the inside as well as the outside?
