Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
Only one problem. Your garage is cleaner than McLarens. Looking good. Good work

Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
Today i have managed to fit the wiring loom and test all the lights, horn etc etc, Now the battery is on charge so i can test the starter motor!
Built up the Delorto with all the recomended jets and needles and fitted onto the engine..
The top of the carb touches the frame and i reckon this might cause vibrations and ultimatly rub the frame and top of the carb away? Any other 604 Amg builders had the same problem or am i concerned over nothing?
The carb doesnt line up properly with the air box so might have to do away with it after all!
All the joys of building something a bit different!

Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
I like Pete's idea with the spacer. I used a 350 engine to carb hose rotated until the carb missed the frame. I can get the slide out nice and easy. Does the carb need to sit horizontal though? How does it effect the float height if it's at an angle?

Brilliant! Thanks to you both, I'll try the 350 rubber first as this might just allow me to angle the carb down enough to keep the air box too..green_machine wrote:I like Pete's idea with the spacer. As for your question Stuart, having the carb horizontal can only help matters and keep the float bowl full at all times, being at an angle would cause float issues and would probably require the height resetting... Looks right horizontal to me!

Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
All is good on the electric front! With the charged battery the motor turns over a treat and provides a good spark too!
Now to sort all the other little jobs out and it'll start to look and sound like an MT again!

Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
Some new goodies arrived in the post today! Ohlins rear shocks with remote resevoir! I'll see how they compare with the fox shocks..
I'll have to modify part of the swingarm near to the mounting as these shocks are slightly different to OEM shocks..
New headlight arrived too, New mudguards are on there way and new striker electronic speedo...
Ive also fitted a brembo master cylinder off a ktm, hopefully should work ok with the grimeca caliper...

Re: Project Armstrong MT604 Supermoto/MXer/Traily
Few jobs been done on the 604.. Mainly sort the swing arm out to accept the super long trick Ohlins rear shocks (Off a CR250 red rocket!). Its the modified 350 Supermoto swing arm which is now off to have the 500 brake arm bracket welded to it..
The regulator was under headlight on the mudguard as in pic but now its on the rear mudguard behind the seat!.. All the fun of building a hybrid!
Probably do a bit more to this one at the weekend if i'm still waiting for my other projects frames to come back.. And still need a 500 cylinder to complete the 500 motor....

What exhaust headers and mid section are you using on the 604?
