Update:

To date ten members have shown an interest in joining this event. Still room for more.

The campsite which I was hoping to use at Prestatyn on the Wednesday evening March 14th is closed.

I have found an alternative campsite adjacent to the Three Pigeons Inn at Graigfechan, some 20 miles south of Prestatyn. I have spoken with Paul the landlord and we will be very welcome. We can buy an evening meal at the Three Pigeons but not breakfast. I just hope that the beer is good and the good news is that it's only a couple of minutes staggering time from the inn to our tents.

I propose that on the Thursday morning we ride the 20 miles to Prestatyn, have breakfast there, meet up with any members planning to join us then set off along the OD route say by 10am ish.

When I have further info. re the Thursday night site I will let you know.

Further update:

The campsite for the Thursday night March 15th has now been confirmed. It is adjacent to the Bridges Youth Hostel, Ratlinghope, Shropshire. We can use the showers / toilets in the hostel. Breakfast can be taken in the hostel providing we notify the owner in time.

Literally just around the corner from the campsite / hostel is the Horseshoe Inn where you can get bar food and Three Tuns Real Ale brewed in Bishops Castle.
Quote: " fantastic country pub set in the rolling hills of Shropshire. The Horseshoe Inn is a hidden gem. I knew when I saw a puff of woodsmoke rising lazily......"

Bring a torch, there are no street lights!

I got the OS maps out the other day. Is Dave going to have a field day or what? There are soooo many tiny little roads and tracks he could take us on around the route of Offa's Dyke. I think his Nav system will be working overtime again.

To give you a flavour of Dave's trips, check out last year's Pennine Way run in the Ride Reports at the top of this page.

I can't wait.

Hi Dave
Their is a good meeting point at Rhyddlan its a cafe called whistle stop which does good food if you needed breakfast after the night before with a good car park .The cafe is used by a lot of motor cyclist so biker friendly and is only a couple of miles out of Prestatyn if its of any use to you

With just over nine weeks to go before the Coast to Coast (March 14th - 16th) run gets underway I need to firm up on the numbers of Club Members who are joining in. To date ten Members have indicated that they could be interested. I now need to take this a step further & give definite numbers to the campsite owners. So if you are going to join this event and will be requiring a camp place please PM me soon.

Brief reminder:

March 14th camp at The Three Pigeons Graigfechan + evening meal
March 15th breakfast at The Whistlestop Cafe Rhuddlan then ride to the start of the run by the Offa's Dyke monument at the Prestatyn promenade. 10-00hrs start time
March 15th camp at Bridges in Shropshire with evening meal at The Horeshoe Inn
March 16th breakfast at the Bridges Hostel and then complete the second leg to finish near Chepstow.

Total mileage approx 250 miles.

For those members who are joining this event I will send them full details on a PDF attachment if they can give me their email addresses. This will include the route sheets, OS map details, campsite and pub details etc etc.
