Transition from MT500 to Project Scruffy - MT604e.
Re: Transition from MT500 to Project Scruffy - MT604e.
Gary, I'll have a dig in the garage tonight for the bits.
Meet up at the Longshoot sounds good to me, I'll bring Digger along as well. He's building a 604 using a 350 frame (the easy way to do it!). Maybe come over to mine and cast your eyes over my handywork as well.
I doubt if you'll get a standard airbox in with the 40mm Dellorto off the 604, space is tight. I'm using a 500 loom with a 350 regulator mounted up front in the wind. Just need to add the electric start circuit which is easy enough.

Re: Transition from MT500 to Project Scruffy - MT604e.
Just come in from an afternoon session in the garage. Yet more bits screwed on and I have to say, it's looking good. I'll get it off the ramp and outside tomorrow for some up to date photo's.
Read back through my posts and at one point I said I was going to be riding it in August 2010..... . Hilarious.......

Re: Transition from MT500 to Project Scruffy - MT604e.
So, I started this thread on 23rd January 2010 with the aim of getting the bike ready for that Summer...........
I've been slowly chipping away in fits and starts on and off. Spend a day on it then leaving it for a month or more but now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Having slowly sourced nearly all the parts I need I've decided to have a final push and get a move on. It's a good feeling when an hour in the garage gets more bits off the floor and onto the bike but there's always something to slow me down. Simple things like fitting the horn. The one I am using needed a new bracket fabricating. Having to strip the front end down after the bottom yoke split in two wasn't part of the plan either.
The new stainless exhaust while looking superb didn't fit too well at the rear end so a bit of careful cutting and rewelding was needed to pull it back in line. Modification/extension of a standard CCM exhaust hanger was needed as well.
This is where I'm at right now.....
And back on the ramp next to the 350, like two pea's in a pod.
I want to be at a stage where a day over Christmas will see it all wired up and live. Cables and odds and ends this week. More photo's as I progress.
