Post by NVNL » Sat Nov 19, 2011 2:08 pm

This morning I took the LE to New Bridge which spans the River Fowey on the edge of Lower Cabilla Wood in the Glynn Valley.

On we go

Leaving New Bridge behind we ride sedately through Leball Wood with Death Corner out of sight to the west, past Le Ball itself and on to Little Downs, on the green we bear right, take a right and later right again for Welltown and Tawna.

So the story goes, Paul’s forebears were evacuated from Plymouth during World War Two up onto Dartmoor out of harm’s way. His family formed a bond with their hosts which is still strong today, seven decades on.

An offering from Donegal

Hope I got the best pic uploaded. still learning. But Bridges - after being brought up beside IKB railway and Taymar toll bridges there is no way I'm not intrigued by them.

Keep up the good work, and Norman, maybe we will think of a trip over, sometime!

from the other side,

David

Norman and David,

If you are making plans do think about the Longest Day Rideabout 21/6/12.

Parp! Parp!

Sent out on a wet afternoon to buy cat food and to take care of a couple of items of Bridge Club business I decided, on advice, to ride along the River Lerryn for a little way.

GRP Bridge

Post by NVNL » Thu Nov 24, 2011 6:50 am

"The need for easy maintenance and rapid construction to minimise disruption to road traffic led directly to the selection of lightweight self-finished GRP materials which are durable and require little or no maintenance. The deck is hung from conventional steel suspension cables, with a radial pattern of stainless steel hangers and parapet posts which give the bridge a light, elegant appearance. The finished deck surface is made from recycled car tyres, which create a low maintenance surface suitable for all bridge users."

Drake's distant drum

Post by NVNL » Fri Nov 25, 2011 7:15 am

Just popped out for a few Renault bits and a quick peep at the great water. While on the way I was surprised by a distant vision of the Tamar Bridge.
