Sunshine after rain

Post by NVNL » Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:07 pm

A good deal of rain here yesterday and like Sir Jacob Astley before Edgehill I know I have a fair bit to do today.

On the way to Bridge Club we stopped for a look at a freshly washed world.

When we got to Churchbridge the river was swollen, but not by as much as I was expecting.

Then on to this threefold gem, a clapper bridge

by a modern bridge

and just downstream from them a naturally occurring clam bridge.

Then home in time for cricket.

Belt and braces

Cracking little two bridger here, Treverbyn bridges over the River Fowey. The Box Brownie sits on the parapet of the 1929 County bridge and the motorcycle crosses and recrosses the 1412 bridge.

At a guess the 1929 bridge was paid for out of the rates whereas funding for the 1412 bridge was private and was encouraged by - get this, an Episcopal indulgence granted by - Edmund (Stafford), by Divine Mercy, Bishop of Exeter.

The deal seems to have been - help us get this bridge working in two years from the date of my seal you’ll get forty days off your time in purgatory.
I’m fairly sure Indulgences fell out of use years ago. Here’s the evidence that the 1412 bridge between Leskyret and Bodmin still works.

Thanks Barrie, hope no-one minds me creating a blog, it saves me reformatting everything each time I post on a different site. The blog I've chosen is pretty easy to use, and I simply put the link on any other site I happen to be posting on.

Am I really the only LE Velocette owner on here?
