Welcome to the kickstartonly club, :)

Nice looking beastie there, The rack is cut down, clearly had a dual seat on, oddly, doesn't look to have pillion pegs, any holes drilled in the swingarm for them?

Re the carb, if all's set up it'll start on the Amal fine, mines on the original Amal, third kick from cold, first or second hot.
I recommend kicking off the bike you can use right or left foot but given that leaning the bike right and kicking with the left leg is simply unnatural even to old farts like me who started on kick bikes.
You can kick it on the mainstand or not (sidestand needs to be folded but it's easy to hold upright) all you need to once you've cleaned and fettled is find the 'knack' unique to your bike.
Mine is, fuel on, choke on, couple of spins with decomp in, white in window, tiny bit of throttle, hefty kick, if it doesn't start in three kicks same with the choke off, if it doesn't start after that, i've run out of petrol, (did that years ago outside a friends on my new first stroker, kicking, swearing checking plug leads and allsorts till he said, is there petrol in? bloody stupid question, course there is, mind you, hang on, reserve, kick, vroom, i felt rather embarassed, he laughed, a lot)

Have a look at my cold start video to get an idea.

Nice one mate. Thanks for that, confirms my theory is good. That either leave sods law, or the fact I need how to learn to set up a carb correctly.
I think i'm in love with it already though. Its so much bigger then what I expected too! Its a queer colour aswell, and I'm taking a liking to it.
Barrie

Edit, it does have a pillion leg on the lh side. Nothing on the right though. Very bodge job leg too

Mine is usually a first time starter from cold, after going through the priming with the decompresser, choke, etc, then one day I had probs all day starting it, when I got home i found that the Pilot jet was out of adjustment ( Amal carb ) once reset starts fine again. 8-)

Still not got the hang off it :D Not from a lack of trying, Land lord came over today and said "wow I sat my test on one of these, can I have a go?" I say "sure If you can start it." Walks up to it bold as brass and within ten minutes time he was sweating and swearing at it

One thing though, I found a load of water and oil under the timing cover when I was checking the belt over. It had by the looks of it rested at the bottom of it for a while, any ideas?

I got this in loch lomund of a member here Jason (atomised) for Ă‚ÂŁ400 :P
Its my new baby :D

Clean out the drain hole in the bottom of the timing belt cover.

Finally got that bloody carb off :) its a dellorto, not sure if thats good or bad. Got the tank off. apparently they have no filter above the fuel tap? :? Air filters good, oils good, timings good, so I'll give the carb a good clean out and the tank, hopefully that will help.

Anybody know how to set a dellorto back to factory settings? or something that would work? lol

OH and wheres that magnet thing that collects tid bits in the engine?

:D Funn

Its on the engine sump plug, you may also have one on the frame oil drain plug.
