Just looked on the MAG web site and cannot see any specific stuff regarding this weekend. The usual MAG paranoid "they are aollout to get us" stuff. The issue I have with MAG, ultimatley, is the "little boy who cried wolf" syndrome. I really cannot see PC Plod doing checks of tyre circumferences when they have 1000 and 1 other issues to deal with. I am fully aware of the risks of future legislation posing issues for bike manufactures etc. but so far none of the paranoid crap has totally come true. "they" are not out to get "us". "They" (Police) have many other more important things to deal with. I can recall the days when getting pulled over by PC plod was an occupational hazard of riding a motorcycle and we managed it accordingly ( grovel grovel, yes sir). I fully accept that new regualtion make make new bike production more difficlut but for me and my MT500 and BSA B40WD it is of little immediate significance.
Yours (God, I have more immediate things to worry about)

Well, this is another point and I don't want to get all serious again, but MAG really screwed up. The media management seemed non-existent making your protest a complete waste of time.

It's been all over the papers down here in the South west and on spotlight. There were about 700 of us set off from near Plymouth with plenty of press coverage and I have to say that I didn't see any Irate drivers, in fact quite the opposite. Most of them tooted and gave a wave.
People were parking their cars on the flyovers and waving as we passed under.
Out of the 700 or so that set off I don't suppose that 80% were mag members so I reckon mag did quite a good job of promoting the event.
There is no point in protesting if you aren't going to inconvenience somebody is there? and let's face it, how many bikers are going to write to their MEP's, who aren't going to listen anyway unless it is likely to affect their reelection. Most of them only turn up to collect their subs and then piss off home again not even bothering to vote on crucial matters let alone matters as trivial as bikers having their right of choice taken away from them.
Personally if they make filtering illegal then I may as well use the car for commuting.

Stu Ya Southern Humpty

I was on about the fuel protests and no cars, I am aware no cars would turn up for a bike protest.

The white paper I read was broken down by some bike riding UKIP M.E.P .
OBD. On Board Diagnostics. VOSA Road side checks on the ECU for emissions and riding styles. And we know what will happen then. “So while we have stopped you sir I will just check the rest of your bike”. Tyre pressures, tread, steering bearings, number plate size all your lights working and the rest. You can be riding away £100 lighter.

RMI. Repair and Maintenance Information. This is being passed and left open so they can add to it later. The worry is carrying a log of all the work you have done to the bike. This is due to 1% of accidents caused by bad DIY repairs.

Mandatory ABS will be fitted with a on off switch

All the new laws will affect everybody in some way so I will see you on the next demo.

Hi,

Not intending to bring party Politics into this but UKIP, rightly or wrongly, are anti - EU, thus I am not surprised a UKIP politician, bike rider or not, would try to rubbish anything eminating from the EU. My view on all proposals is whether there is sound evidence to support law changes. tachographs on commercial vehicles for example have reduced significantly the risks posed to us all by drivers being forced or otherwise to drive their vehicles for longer than is safe in terms of tiredness. MoT tets have reduced the number of dangerously unsafe vehicles on the road, compulsory crash helmets have most probably reduced deaths caused by traunatic head injury. Most laws end up with us because some tw*t somewhere, has done the stupid thing which the law makes illegal. Unfortunatly we all end up being affected by law changes due to the stupidity of those who have done something stupid and alerted the great and the good to said act. I would guess that most of the moves to outlaw off road riding has been because of tits on motocross type bikes making a row, scaring people and livestock, and giving all bikes a bad name. I like nothing more than to ride a byway leaving little mess or noise, similarly I have no problem with someone driving a landy or such off road, I do have an issue with seing a track destroyed by someone having driven / ridden it with no care for the damage and leaving uckin great ruts which flood and never repair.

I could go on but shall stop here (for now!)
