The issue isn't with the plod pulling you it's more along the lines of if it goes through you just won't be able to buy and fit the parts you can now or alter your bike and if you do you won't get an MOT and the insurance companies will not cover you which will also be the case with the high viz.

Compulsory leg protectors anyone? Try greenlaning with them fitted
And compulsory ABS. ;)

I'm going along to one.

As far as I'm concerned it's not about paranoia, the proposed regulations will be (ab)used by insurance companies to establish 50:50 fault where accidents are caused by poor observation and negligence by car drivers because the motorcyclist will be deemed to have worn the wrong standard of full sleeve hi-vis (Ireland is requiring full sleeve hi-vis, not just a sash) or have the wrong type of foot peg fitted, and so be contributory negligent. Shifting fault to both parties is good because it allows the premiums of everyone involved to be increased, instead of just the person actually at fault, and in specific regard to motorcyclists compensation for injury can be greatly reduced.

Also, who is going to be producing approved OEM parts for our bikes which aren't even supported by any manufacturer? How many of us run the exactly original (manufacturer, speed rating, compound) tyres, are these even still available? The proposals are just ridiculous. There is no possibility of leaving the EU (which would itself be disastrous to the country) however this is not to say that we should accept legislation devised by unaccountable unelected bureaucrats with the intention of reducing total road casualties by simply forcing everyone into cars.

Good luck to you on the protest. Cant make it myself as didnt know about it until recently and got prior commitments.

I dont normally follow this MAG stuff much, but sometimes you have to make a stand.
Motorcyclists in general have a bit of a bad press (and always have had) , mainly due to a minority of idiots , and we are a bit of a minority group and need to speak up for ourselves .

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
