Will a 500 top end, Barrel piston and Head fit straight on a 350
And if so has anyone a spare set, or engine.
Keep looking at 604's and 640's but cost of bikes to much for a engine
350 - 500
Re: 350 - 500
Apparently not according to other threads, however you can transplant parts from the 350 lower end into a 500 engine to make a 500e.
There was a step by step thread by Mustaphapint in the old forum but I can't find it at the moment.

Re: 350 - 500
the throw of the crank isnt the same
you can make a 500e with a 500 and a 350 engine but you will have to buy a 604 balance shaft
as the 350 balance shaft is lighter
the 500 barrel will fit the 350 crank mouth but the 604 barrel will not fit the 350 or 500 crank mouth

Thanks for you advise.Apophis wrote:the throw of the crank isnt the same

This is getting a bit to involved now, so has a 500 a shorter or longer con rod then?
Does the 500 not have a balance shaft that will fit?
How much is a 604 balance shaft?
Is it right that if you swap barrels it only makes it a 450?
I suppose if you dont change the balance shaft it will shake it self to bits.
Best I keep looking for a 604 / 640 motor then

Re: 350 - 500
There are some members on here that have tuned and adjusted their 500 motors to make a motor that puts many 604's to shame.

Re: 350 - 500
I love my 500, and it goes quite well, and it is great fun around the lanes etc, but unfortunately due to a dodgy left knee I cant kick it over sat on the bike.
It starts easily enough if I use my right leg off the bike on the main stand.
Problem is trying to start it off road on the mud, it wont stand up.
Hence looking to convert to elecky start 500, and why i'll be taking the 350 to the Wye Valley
