First MT through Hindhead Tunnel perhaps

Post by hounddog » Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:35 am

Last Saturday afternoon I decided to take the MT for a ride through the newly opened Hindhead Tunnel on the A3 Portsmouth-London road.
(Yes I know, I need to get a life and get out more :) )

Impressive structure, 1.1 miles long (or 1.8km) , twin dual carraigeway tunnels , cost £371m to build (and as Ive paid for some of that through my taxes I thought I would see what I had bought)..., and removes the notorious Hindhead traffic lights bottleneck that anyone who does that road regularly will know and love

MT sounded good going through, with the airbox mod 8-)

Seemed to be a fairly steady flow of traffic doing what I did, through the tunnel, off at next exit and turn round and back again - good to see I am not the only sad case around...

Got this snap.

Maybe the first MT through the tunnel, unless anyone got there first ?

£371 million
at an average secondhand price of £1500 each, £371 million would have bought 247,000 MTs. or enough fuel for my MT to travel 422,000,000 miles or 16680 times around the world.

Makes you think.

But you forgot to factor in timing belts....

I went through the tunnel on sunday, :D but on my Kawa  only because I woudna keep up with my mate on his missile, a Suzuki Hayabusa
Talking of Hindhead, I wanted to go up the old a3, but they have now close it, I was stuck in a traffic jam coming down the hill towards hindhead from london a few years back in my car, and notice that the car rolled up the hill rather that down  weard, has anybody else experince this? I wanted to relive this, but hence they have close the old A3, so unless anybody else has experince this, I never know for sure now,
