I don't think you have spoiled the thread, its all related, and his discussion of the trip appears to be complete. There are some that may learn from others experience if they plan a trip themselves (including me - I now will fit a switch before I go) which I am sure Ady will appreciate, as it at least plausible that an oil pressure switch may have saved his engine (though certainly not definate). My Guzzi failed because of a peeled barrel coating which pulled all the oil out the sump on a long trip. The barrel could have been repaired easily, or at least I could have put more oil in (it has a tiny sump). The engine needed far more work after the big ends failed. There was an oil pressure switch, and guess what, it stopped working the week before I left (Italian electrics).

Be who you are and say what you feel because those that
matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!

Think he means me & the timing of my Guzzi's oil pressure lamp going AWOL. Nikasil cylinder liners have their benefits, but in this instance

Thanks for posting ady good read, great shame you ha to van it back. You will get to andora I'm sure. Whats your final conclusion with the engine? Oil does seem an issue with the MT. Getting to hot and burning off eta. Mine has just started slowly bleeding to death. I found it's not to easy to find in Europe as you might think. Must add a oil gauge to the wish list. Along with a winning lottery ticket and a hot gf.. Look forward to seeing you in Wales mate.
