......Wow...only 2 weeks to go.....Russian visa arrived a couple of days ago....went down to Touratech last weekend.....they thought I was mad going to Russia on an MT350!.....The steel still hasn't arrived at Dyfedd Steel to make the rear pannier racks with but I'm assured it's only days away!.....Fitted a Garmin Zumo 220 to the bike yesterday.....Seemed to have every feature except for distance travelled (which I really wanted due to the trip on my bike never making it past 9.9km!)....then I found it.....discreetly hiding above the compass...that was a relief!.....Going to fit new T63 tyres this weekend......not sure how they'll do on a 6,500 mile road trip but I like them!.....Pimped my front panniers this week....(I'll post pics when I'm ready to roll).....Hopefully got all the spares I need now.....Roll on Russia.......

Sounds a great adventure - I'll try and get to the Ace on the 16th to see you off. I only live a few miles away

If you haven't done the following you probably should:

1. Carb and air box mod. Will make a huge difference to top speed and performance on fast roads
2. Complete refurb of Carb including new seals and fuel pump diaphram
3. Check carb rubbers to air box and cylinder head. Fit the new Apophis carb to engine hose if it's available (Makes a huge difference to fitting the carb more easily)
4. Upgrade headlight to halogen - but carry spares as some people report more frequent bulb blowing
5. Think about bike security - not a lot as standard :)
6. Practise kick starting - in case batt fails etc.

Anyway good luck and make sure you post lots of photos

.....Only 2 days to go!.....Tomorrow will be spent packing.....tent & mattress in one front pannier.......spares & electrics (netbook, cameras etc) in the other......clothes, sleeping bag etc at the back......
The last couple of weeks have seen new tyres (T-63's....bloody fiddly getting the rear on with that clamp thingy!).....new sprockets & chain, new front brake lever & cylinder....
As well as a lighter socket on the dash, I now have a Garmin Zumo 220 GPS on the handlebars.....if nothing else, it works as a trip as the one on my speedo is very tempramental!!......I'll be able to work out an accurate MPG at last......I think it's somewhere between 60 & 70 at the moment but that will probably reduce with all the luggage on board....

If you want to say hello, I'll be at:
Sat 11th June 10am - Noon: Waltham St Lawrence send-off, Berkshire...
Sun 12th June morning: Ayr Racecourse Classic Motorcycle Show...
Sun 12th June afternoon: Village of Moscow Ayrshire for the start of MOSCOW to MOSCOW...
Thursday 16th June 5pm - 8pm: The ACE Cafe....London
