Just come across the pics Brian, recognised Elterwater and the Langdales immediately, brilliant images. I live 40 minutes from there and was a BT engineer for 22 years and this was my "patch" including Dungeon Ghyll and Wallend campsite. I bet you didn't meet much traffic on a day like that -except perhaps the odd BT van! It is priceless though isn't it. Let me know when you are going again and I'll come with you and we'll go over Wrynose and Hardknott into Eskdale. Just for the spectacular views, log fires and real ales thats all. Ho hum....

certainly will do.
i usually nip up there during the week , sometimes at weekend but not often due to my shifts.
as for the lone bt van ,sad to say it was a lone posty !
i love it round there been going since a small child with my dad. just the last few years ive found out my maternal family came from round there via hawkshead.
there's a few great routes over the tops besides hardknot /wrynose. corney fell, ulpha fell . its a good route to link them all together.makes a good day out. as long as you stay off the ales.finish off with some great fish and chips at whitehaven.

hope to see you some time. same goes for anyone else who fancies a ride out and needs some company.

Your bike is well sorted for treks re panniers, screen etc.
Did you make the hand guards yourself?

I look forward to the time I can ride out to such a lovely place.

Cheers,

hi aleman,
yes i did make the guards myself.a bit over the top me thinks but they do work a treat.came home from work tonight ,20mls ,throwing it down and my (summer) gloves are bone dry.they are attached to a pair of 350 brush guards.i havnt made too many mods but the ones i have made are just to make things a bit more comfortable on a long run.i also use it for work in all weathers.
