Also worth keeping in mind that foreign forces buy stuff from Withams. When I was in Belize in the early 90's that had heaps of British stuff, including beat up Canams. So I am sure they will have the 350's, also places like the Mongolian bike club buy them in bulk. I am sure far more bikes are leaving Withams gates than we see in tenders or auctions.

Withams are there to get the best prices for the MOD, it all goes back in to the coffers so as a taxpayer I am all for it. That said I wish I could get a good cheap one.

Went up to view November tender, could not believe their site

They also, in a hanger, had some Moto guzzi V50s ( military spec)
Company directer said they could be for sale for right price

Also added everything was for sale at right price

I cant think of any unit still holding bikes now. As soon as they were no longer needed for mil trg/ops etc they were pushed on to disposal parks and collected by withams. Some sooner than others hence the rusty state of most. I'd say what you see at withams now will probably be the last. Shame they are just left outside. As for those over seas, thats where they will stay, I remember the Falklands used to have auctions for CAST/ kit no longer needed etc, cheaper than shipping back home...

There are 7 or 8 of average looking quality at Withams tender on 31st Jan .... trying hard not to put in another 'silly' bid. No more space.

The MOD obviously sell bikes to Withams then Joe public buys from Withams or ? ? ?

LMS & Force, to mention two dealers I have heard of, sell bikes, but do they buy from Withams or where?

Do Withams have a strangle hold on the supply chain and if so is this right?
Perhaps a member can enlighten me.

Money talks and Withams get everything as far as i am aware, companies like force and LMS buy them from there(this was borne out by the history of my bike which had withams on the paperwork before it went to LMS. We got rid of some generators and they were snapped up by withams as well.

Hi, Withams have the contract and have for some years now, for the disposal of cast vehicles or eqpt no longer needed or required by the MOD....

There are similar contracts in place eg for old office equipment, old computers, old oils etc etc....

Withams don't own the bikes the MOD does, i.e the taxpayer. Withams dispose of them on behalf of the MOD and keep a fee for doing so. As I understand it they also charge for storage of the equipment prior to disposal.
