Just came back home from work. Holy crap. Decided to chance it and, despite making it in one piece, still not sure if it was wise move.

It was grand in the morning, then around 4pm sky just opened and white crap fell out. No grip whatsoever. Kept riding in the middle of the road, as fresh snow gave at least some impression of grip (traffic was in standstill anyway). Met 2 other morons like me - one on 125cc Yamaha offroader and a courier on Bandit.

Still, bike was controllable (or at least stable while going sideways). Didn't fell off and probably learned more biking skills than in last 5 years.

Rode to work this morning at -12c was cold but fun. Was doing 20mph on ice when i got to work as our unit is on a farm so nobody was about loads off. Just not the stopping, the stopping part is hard But no spills i think the offroading day helped loads as i learnt a few new things plus extra confidants and how useful standing up is

I've definitely found that trail riding improves your skills in everyday riding, and especially when it comes to snow and ice.

But I don't ride standing up on the ice though, that front tyre is just too susceptible to slip out from underneath. Sit down with a foot on the ground when turning, like this :

I would sit down but when dragging my feet if they catch somthing they get dragged under the pannier racks so when i stand if i bail i can step off the bike if you follow lol
