I could just see the Aprilia writing. Is it a 6 speed one?

Certainly is, will be interesting to see what the gearing will be like, looking forward to getting this one finished.

Looks like the timing gear cover had filled with water and stood like that for several months.

John told me about the damage on the phone but only just seen the photos. Wow...

Update on Bike 1: Rode down to see John and show off the bike last month. Managed to cook the front brake on the M25 and then ride 100 KM with only a rear brake! John kindly donated the brand new caliper from Bike 2 to return Bike 1 to a serviceable condition to ride home.

He also donated a host of other odds and ends so the bike's starting to look pretty tidy now. Swapped the very knobbly tyres to some more suitable enduro style ones. Much less vibration!

Spent last Saturday rebuilding the rear brake caliper with new seals etc. which only leaves a slight hesitation during running to deal with. Not sure if it's carb or perhaps the shielded plug cap. Will be investigating over the next few days...

Quick update, bike is now a runner, I have not done any cosmetic work to the engine yet as it was not known if it was a goodun, however it ran yesterday (with no exhaust on ) and early indications are that it is fine however my ignition switch wiring needs looking at is it kept running when I turned it off with the key. Very pleased so far.
The plan is to get bike 2 registered over christmas (I'm out of the country until then ).
Bike 3 (this one ) will hopefully be ready for MOT in the summer next year ( again I'm away until march)

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
