To crack off anything like the crank or sprocket, best in gear foot on the rear brake, take up 'the slack' as much as you can before wizzing away with the chosen tool.

Pneumatic impact driver maybe the best way. But we don't all have one available iin a tyre shop next door.

I have bought a 18v eletric one, it works great for this type of thing, and £60 is well worth not breaking casings, clutch baskets etc, and I carry it round in my car in case I have to change a wheel..

Finally, my missing panniers and the gunholder arrived - they are in great condition, so I´m very happy with it.

I have been cleaning up my garage now and since the car can stay outside again, the bike is already standing in the middle of the room, waiting for me to loosen this damn nut.... maybe this weekend I´ll find the time.

Finally, I did it !

After 10 minutes of warming up the nut and then using a 3 feet steel rod I managed to get this f***ing nut loose.

Now I think I´ve removed all (visible) screws, but the clutch cover won´t open still. What do I have to do next ? In the service manual it says, remove the cover with little force. Did I forget something ?

i can see one cap head next to the pulley that has to be taken out and are the two behind the starter fly wheel gear been taken out

go to the tutorials and down load the sprag replacement and it goes through all you are doing

Yes that is good advice. remove the starter gear but remember there may be a shim on the outside of the idler gear and the inside,cable tie them onto the gear in the right order so you do not forget on re-assembly.As it has already been said there are two bolts under this gear to remove. The easiest thing to forget is on the kickstarter/gear shaft there is a circlip (wire type) which will jam on the oil seal if you do not remove it. If your clutch cable is still connected pull the clutch lever a couple of times and it should break the gaskets seal and allow you to gently lever the case off,it is sometimes awkward getting the case past the starter motor shaft splines. I replaced both the crank oil seal and the kickstarter seal and o ring between the kickstart and gearlever. on re-assembly be careful with the gasket alignment as i cocked it up and the gasket came off its locating dowel at the back and did not seal properly and i had to do the whole job again. This time i used hylomar blue and stuck the gasket to the sealing surface first before i attempted to replace the casing.

Due to a lack of time, I weren´t able to work again on the bike. A friend and I just founded a new company for electronic development and that business takes a lot of time. But the project is just on hold, not cancelled ;o)
