military police mt 500 ?

mt500 military police ? I brought my mt in 2002 it had the usual hand paint job and looked rough. so I decided to rub down the tank ,mud guards ,chain guard ,to tidy it up.When rubing down the tank there was a red square about 10cm x 10cm on each side with the letters MP in it and the same on the front 10cm of the front mud guard .the original paint on the frame is dark green not nato I dont know if thats standard or not ? Ive now sprayed it nato green the frame will have to wait. any more info on this would be appreciated.

Mine has the same front sticker, I believe this to be the case. MP Military Police?

Hello,

A Military Police Platoon, had a fair amount of vehicles:

1 x 1/4 ton Landriver.
4 x 3/4 ton Landrovers.
2 x Motorcycles (BSA B40's. CanAm 250's Then MT500's and then 350's).
5 x 3/4 ton Sankey trailers.
1 x 4 ton Bedford.

When engaged on Traffic Post duties the set up was often 1 x 3/4 Landrover and trailer and 1 motorcycle.

Up to the conversion to the MT350 with its gun box the rider wizzed along with his Sterling SMG (minus Magazine) dangling round his neck! which made falling of even more fun!

It was usual to have the red square and MP markings.

The Red Dagger in the inverted black triangle is the Commando Badge.
