Re: Northamptonshire bimbling 2024
Just spent a morning reccying the route, only broke down three times First time was after riding for a while my hands were getting hot? stopped to investigate and it wouldn't start (look at me with my electric start conversion ) Turned out the Oxford heated grip controller had threw its toys out and was on full without me switching it on- I've read before regarding the slightly crappy quality of the controllers. Out comes the handy toolkit to disconnect them. Thinking i'd got no charge as to why it wouldn't spin over I reluctantly got on the kick starter. Since having got the electric start my right leg has now returned to a normal size and so relieved it started first kick. This not starting after stopping repeated itself a couple of times more. Turns out it was just loose connections/earths
The off road bits of the route are nearly all dirt tracks, no huge ruts, or deep muddy holes. Those can be provided in the afternoon at the old quarry.
More details to follow.

Jon
If ok can I invite a localish mate, we are planning a trip to Dakar on my MT and he only lives 12 mins from the site.
His father used to help out the old estate gamekeeper with beating etc.
i can vouch for him and he does like beer (a lot)
Cheers
Dave

Yes, no problem. There's less beating happening on the estate these days, I don't think is still legal to abuse the local peasants

Re: Northamptonshire bimbling 2024
I can confirm that the ACU national trials event is taking place on Sunday the 8th. I watched this last year and it was amazing how the top riders just seemed to skip over the rocks and mud where others failed. They have been doing a huge amount of clearance on the site exposing more making it an even better venue. The link is to last years event https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbZc8WcBrsk
