Yorkshire Dales September 2022

Post by Bonnielad » Thu Apr 21, 2022 11:17 am

I am pleased to tell you that I have put dates in the diary for another weekends trail riding in the glorious Yorkshire Dales.
September 9th & 10th.
Our original campsite has gone 'upmarket' and no longer accepts tents (riff-raff). This seems to be a trend through the dales and it wasn't easy to find one that will accommodate us. But we got there in the end. It's not cheap, but it does have a great pub, as well as shower and washing facilities.
If you would like to join me, book direct with the campsite and mention the MT Riders Club in the application. I have just booked for a basic small tent for two nights on a sloping field but it's still cost ÂŁ22 per night.
I think we will need to sort our own breakfasts but the pub food at night is excellent - some of us have eaten there before on one of our ride outs.
Street Head Caravan Park has space for tents and motorhomes. It is near West Burton, just a couple of miles off the main A684 Wensleydale road.

Please let me know who's coming.
Hope to see you there.
Steve.

Not sloping, it's a bit steep.

Just bouncing this up the list now we're getting close. I will be planning a road route on a map for guidance to all the best roads while I lead a trail route. I don't mind if only a few turn up, I know we'll have a great day's riding, but if plenty turn up, I would like to split us into two groups: One clockwise and the other can do the same route in the opposite direction.

I hope you'll be stopping for cream teas.

UPDATE:
The Streethead camp website states that we must arrive by 7pm.
I have spoken to them. Melanie says that if you are likely to arrive after 7pm, please make it before 9 if possible and phone them first to advise that you are on your way.
01969 663472.
She asked us to bear in mind that setting up is difficult in the dark - there is very little ambient light up there.
And they ask for quiet after 10.30 (unless you're in the pub I imagine).
