What have you done to your MT today ? contd
Re: What have you done to your MT today ? contd
I ride my bike commuting 25 miles a day nearly every day. After arriving in town today my chain snapped thankfully about quarter of a mile from the bike shop unfortunately at the top of a hill!. I pushed the MT to the garage and they said they could refit my chain. On collection of the bike found my old chain was knackered as I rode over it. More expense! I also need a new exhaust new clutch and a new sprocket.
Think I may take the bike off the road for a bit.

yesterday night i decided to remove a bit of crud from my engine, the oil port by the rear stud ,the one the manual says to make sure its clear i chose to use a cotten bud which i managed to drop into the engine .. i then tried to recover it with another bud.which then pissed all over my day by flying into the same hole ..i have no idea how this happened but it sure as shxt did,, ,, today i have tried to remove the side and am being vexed by the tightness of the crank nut,,,grrrrrrrrrrr efing grrrrrr,,,my engine seems to want to be disasembled,,,t shirt moment,, i spend more time spannering than riding my mt,good for knowledge and keeping the miles down,,today i quietly put my spanners down and left the area to contemplate and gather the force to me awaiting clutch removal and assembly tool...

The first time I tried to remove the said nut, I ended up with an extension on an extension on an extension- no joy until I applied some heat to the nut to soften the loctite. Irritating folk just advise you to use your air tools and the nut will spin off in seconds .
The second MT I did came off easy as pie.
Good luck with it, you'll get there

Best tool I ever got for Xmas was a battery powered impact wrench - only get it out very occasionally but it never fails to undo even the most stubborn nut with ease!

Took the bike out for a short ride first time in over 2 years only done about sixty miles but great fun, I think my electric boot 500 is probably ran in now it's taken about eight years to get 1500 miles on it still looks brand new though in fact the whole bike does so much so I decided to put the original indicators back on nice new ones found in a box on the shelf I can't even remember which member I bought them from years ago. I also took all the pre-load of the rear shocks as I could barely get my leg across the bike is the same height so I must be shrinking.
