Hi all,

A bit more progression on bike 1 during the lockdown. I'd also like to say thanks to Dave (Vtrsp1da) and Pete (OrigMT500Inst) for helping out with much-needed parts to get the projects finished. There will no doubt be other parts required, but I'm splitting my time between working on the project and planning next stages.

We are trying to get Martin setup with painting facilities in his workshop due to the social distancing, so he's a little behind which is frustrating him

This was quite slots of parts to paint in one sitting for me but pretty much the last of the metalwork on bike 1
Both Martin and I actually like the primer colour, would look like desert bikes

Slapping a bit of RAL6020 on. I'm getting a good matt effect by lowering the gun pressure.

To finish off the update I thought I'd share a photo of a BOAT road I came across and think it will be the target for the first outing on our MT's :D

Cheers

Hey matey, although I REALLY hate you right now I think it looks amazing and you've done a great job, even without me breathing down your neck and complaining that I haven't had a mouthful of Guinness in a long time! Well done mate and I can't wait to get my workshop/garage sorted out so I can also do some painting here and there. ðŸ‘ðŸ»

So lockdown progress has been sloowwww, I'm not going to make any excuses :(

An upgrade was required to clear paint fumes a lot quicker, the last thing we want is respiratory issues

I have started on the plastics, now all the metal paint has been done on bike 1

I know not everyone is worried about matching paint, but we are quite keen to have at least a colour match. Not too fussed for a pristine finish as the bikes will be used regularly!

Hopefully, we can keep traction and start getting the bikes rebuilt soon!

Ex factory, the plastics weren't painted. Usually there are a least three greenish colours, frame, tank, plastics.

Smart move not trying for a perfect finish, you'd only be worried about scratching the paint.

I would post the progress on my one but it would only be half a stripped frame :(

I could post photos of my the bloody paving slabs I've laid for my wife at her allotment she's got me doing, but I won't! Once that's finished this week it's back to the MT restoration project for me :P !!

Progression! We've been upping the pace to get bike 1 in a state where we can build a rolling chassis this weekend :D So be warned there might be a few posts from Martin and I asking how to put it all back together again

Painting a few prerequisite plastics which will be first to go on

Wanging in the new bearing cups

Cleaned, sanded and painted the engine, which is quite a transformation

Reviewing the parts

Wish us luck!
