This thread started in early 2010! Does Stuart get a prize for the longest rebuild ever?
I think he probably does! Aim for the club meet end of August next year ;)
Might be pushing it a bit but i'll give it my best shot :D

Stuart
Look like I didn't push hard enough.... How about next years club meet?

You could always bring it to us to finish Stuart - it wouldn't be the first project we have had to finish off for folk with limited spare time on their hands..
So, 10 years since my first post the saga continues but this time the finish line is in sight :D . I've dug the bike out and finished off a few small issues, fitted a new battery and arranged with Gary to get it running properly. He last looked at the motor in 2013 when he discovered it was in fact a 640. The motor ran fine on his test bed but refuses to play ball in the bike with my PHM40 attached. Run of the mill stuff for Mr Sportax I'm sure....

On the plus side there's less on my 'to do list' than I expected and how the hell I've left it sit for 7 years gathering dust I really don't know.

Stuart! How great to see you back in the fold (or should I say still in the fold!) . Delighted to see you're working on the old girl. Hope to see you soon!

March 28th 2020, the day I collected Scruffy from Sportax after Gary had waved his magic spanners over the old girl. I had dropped her off a few weeks earlier with a short list of jobs mainly centred around the charging electrics and getting the motor to start on the button and run as it should. This had defeated me all those years ago and led to years under a sheet in the garage while life generally got in the way.

The bike got filthy on the trailer on the way over so it was great to see her clean again and in true 'ex forces' style sprayed with PX24 :D .

Gary had taken the liberty of riding the first 5km on 'my' bike but the report back that it rode well, pulled like a train and would sail through the MOT was enough to let him off. Literally can't wait to get it on the road and get some shake down miles under its belt. That will have to wait for now until the current troubles ease off.

I just need to fit the new seat cover I have and repaint the pannier frames and refit the heat shield and that's it all done.

I had planned to get over to the club big meet but hopefully there will be something rearranged for later in the year. Once I get out I'll add some video of her on the road.

Massive thanks to Gary for sorting this for me, money very well spent I would say :D .

Cheers for now,

Stuart

What a great story. You've done a fantastic job.

I'm glad that Sportax wizardry has enabled the electrical hurdle to be overcome so that you can enjoy the fruits of your dedication and hard work.

The current movement restrictions will be lifted at some point and you'll be able to have some fun. I look forward to hearing about your shakedown runs, they might help others to pay attention potential problem areas
