sorry I have to laugh.... all that work on the engine and zorst and you get 39bhp...

What would the book specs on the 604 be compaired to what you ended up with.

Id hate to see what my 350 and 500 put out... must be a massive 18-22 if im lucky!!!

Good work :)

It is claimed to be 53bhp but what that is in reality on the back tyre, gawd knows, probably much less...

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

the spec they give is at the crank im loosing 25% they normaly say you loose about 20%
now it is set up it isnt the bhp ill be useing when riding its the torque
your write TDI probably is about 18 but i bet the torque is good

just read the link they say the torque is in excess of 50NM there not wrong there

everyone looks at the bhp and thinks that is what they get at the rear wheel but it is a spec the manufacturer of the engine gives on the crank power.

the rear wheel power depends on the setup and how good the engine is someone else may get over 40bhp some may only get 36bhp

Remember, power depends on various factors, particularly engine rpm, so you will only get max power at a particular speed in each gear.

As you accelerate, the power will increase, then drop off at about 80% max speed. If your engine is at half max RPM, then you'r probably getting half max power. So if top speed is 100mph, you'll only get half power from the engine when your in top gear at 50mph

Torque should rise quickly, and stay fairly constant as you accelerate, that's the real grunt that gives the acceleration. The lower the torque rises to near max, then the less you need to change gear.

39bhp at the back wheel is pretty good for an off road bike with a single pot engine. Highly useable on the road and you need to be a superhero to use all that power off road. You also loose 3-4 bhp if you do dyno runs with a knobbly tyre fitted. I used to get fixated with power figures until i started off roading seriously when i realised anything over about 25-30 bhp was a hinderance.

i have to agree with you there frenchy on my 350 really easy to control and 500 because its detuned pretty good but since 640 fitted it is too powerfull off road for a novice i feel, but its great on road, just for the accelleration and torque it produces a quality ride, so i dont mind coming off now and then and again, and again   well worth the extra power on road :D and as for top end i personally cant hang on to it for too long flat out,
