The Big Meet 2018. Cheers.

Post by lardmarc » Sun May 20, 2018 3:05 am

9 hours of driving to spend 10 hours with this lot.

Derrick reckons I need shave while Deadgrass is trying to stop me procreating with the help of KTM, too late lads.

A different kind of MTRC bash for me. I didn't hurt myself or get any punctures, result.

A cracking day.

I think it went very well. Have to say a massive THANK YOU to Derrick and Alan (with some help from Keith) for feeding us over the weekend. A great job well done and your efforts should be recognised.
It was good to see so many of you and I think we all enjoyed the big meet and the event. Nice to see a few new faces too.
As usual, the rank of bikes attracted plenty of attention despite being in a bit of a backwater. Bandit's bike was quite dizzy by the end. (no explanation - you had to be there).
If there was a downside it was the leaving on Sunday afternoon. The organisers made it clear that we should stay until 5pm and we were all told this, but by lunchtime we were all getting a little stir crazy as there was nothing left to do. Many of us (Myself included) ignored the request and escaped early. I just hope it doesn't sour things if we want to do the same again next year (when I at least will be better organised).
Thanks to everyone that turned up including the day-trippers. It was great to see you all.

I can imagine, well done for not letting the side down.

It'll be the side stand conundrum rather than what I was expecting, won't it.

It was good to finally put some faces to some names this weekend. Thanks for the warm welcome and the beers last night. My other half has since recovered from all that.
I hope everyone has a safe and uneventful ride home and I hope to see you guys again soon.

We need more 500s on show, then we can REALLY mess with their heads!

Great to see everyone this weekend, a good time was had by all from what I could see- thanks everyone for coming , and our chefs and all those that helped out . lots of laughs and banter , a few beers , and the sun shone on us . Hope you all got back ok.

It was good to see the show, stunt displays , racing etc and all usual exhibits . We even had a Lancaster bomber came over us on Saturday which was a great sight and sound .

Special mention to two long travelled overseas members Trecce from Germany and MT Decky from Republic of Ireland thanks for making the journey.
- not sure if MT Bandit also qualifies as an overseas visitor from the Isle of Wight ;)

Derrick and I were the last ones off site on Sunday having taken a collective decision to drift away before the rush as a lot of us had long journeys and work the next day - hopefully the organisers didn't pay much attention - we were not the only ones

Ian

ps. My other half is also very happy that the new club cooker is no longer living in our dining room at home where it has been for the last few weeks :D
