Well, went through the bike today for the trip to the big meet. Everything seems ok, checked the cam belt, and it looks ok, so nothing else i can do really till i load the bike on Friday and head for the ferry. Would somebody help me change the cam belt on Sunday. Ive never done one before and i need to be able to change one on my own , looking forward to the trip and does anybody need anthing brought over from Ireland let me know, see ye all Saturday evening, hopefully!!!

Plenty of helpers there Decky. I'm sure Minter would volunteer but if he's too busy, there will be many of us to help with that. Also, Minter will have new ones on stock if you don't bring your own.

If you go to the Manuals section, the last post is from Joth and there is a link to a heap of documents including How to change your cambelt
Ideally you should carry a crank locking bolt, spare belt and the tools needed to do the job If pulleys and idler rollers are in good condition the belt should last a very long time
The other item to carry is a spare clutch cable as they give little or no warning of failure The really smart guys fit a new cable and leave to old one routed through from handle bar to seat Special tool needed, a large paper clip - a torch can also come in handy
Both of these are roadside fixes if you need to do them Being able to do them results in a minor inconvenience Not being able to do them is a long wait for the recovery truck N B You can ride an MT without a working clutch cable but only if traffic is light and there are no/few traffic lights

No problem with us changing your belt . Something I do is mark the top and bottom pulleys against the backplate with tippex so you know it's all lined up ok
