Right, all the fuses check out as no resistance via my multimeter, the starter switch checks out ok too, the starter relay is brand spankin new, and when I cotact the terminals over the engine turns over.

your starter relay will have A1 and A2 connections A1 being from the fuse positive feed
live from the battery on that side you should also have the feed from the reg rec (not a problem if you haven’t got it connected) the third lead will be going to the fuses
then on the other side of the relay there should be a black cable to the starter motor make sure that is tight at the starter motor
A2 will be dropped to earth Via the start switch on the bars check the lead from the fuse to relay it will be one of the two linked together on one side the other side will be the A1 feed to the relay

the other cable A2 is the feed to earth via the start button find a good earth point with one probe and put the other probe on the cable to bell it out then push the start button if it bells out that is ok if not its your earths as stated before

Cheers, may have to take you up on that Apophosis,
Truslack, the fuses show no resistance, this tells me they are whole unbroken, the alternative would be an open circuit, or infinite resistance.
As far as I can tell the power comes through all the fuses, but for some reason disapears by the time it gets to the large square block connector in the headlamp shroud, this only has one terminal showing any voltage, yet they show continuity when tested.
I'm not even sure I have the ignition switch wired correctly, as it came with some wierd translucent cylinder with a small PCB enclosed in it, connected via three wires, never seen one before, and I'm mystified as to its function.

now we are getting some where how many positions are there to the switch??

standard has off on and on with lights

I have a standard MT350 ignition barrel, it came from flea-bay with some of is wiring and connectors that I was missing.
I get a neutral and charging light, but sod all else.

The plastic cylinder with three wires will be the charging relay.
When the generator volts gets above 13 / 13.5v, it will switch off the charging light and switch on the battery charging.
SOme of these have a poor tolerance on the switching voltage, and can be a bit misleading, with the light not going out fully, or staying off when the engine is recently stopped.

Cheers Derrick, I can't get the engine to turn over off the button. But I'm glad I know what that wierd thingy is.
I have power to fuse 1, then it goes upto the ignition, back down to fuses 2&3, then comes out through the fuses and disapears back into the loom, never to be seen again?? :? :? Yet all wire show continuity, just can't work out whats wrong, even the connectors seem to check out OK.
As far as I can tell its all wired up according to the diagram, must have something to do with it being frame number 13 :? :? :? :?

:oops: :oops: :oops: There are two block connectors behind the headlamp cowl that are the same, they got switched round and formed a loop on itself :oops: :oops: :oops:
In my defense, the bike came like this and I connected the ignition barrel into the only spare looking block connector left :roll: :roll: :roll: and assumed this was correct :roll: :roll: :roll:
I have still the need of a set of indicators, a horn, a speedo+ cable, to sort out, but I have also discovered that my carb is peeing fuel, and the tank has a hole in it!!!!!!
so if anyone wants to swap a standard tank for my acebis one they are welcome. I have decided I don't want to mess with the looks of the bike, and will put up with carring extra fuel for long journeys. ;)

are the two six way connectors one has just 3 wires going to it :lol: :lol: bet that was the one you had pluged into
