Aleman's Update Sep 09

Post by morpheus » Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:11 pm

From Aleman:
Views of the nearly ready bike. Persyverence in the metal. What a poser.
Any one notice Lowuks old tank with the bullet holes.
This is a replacement from my original leaking one which I will repair.

The last pic is what my problems is to fix, the kick start spring so just get that clutch
removed first then away I go.

I plan an MOT end of October.

Cheers,
Keith. ps thanks all for your help!

Looks great Keith, nice one!

Nice to see a 500 tank on a 350, al lines up nicely with the seat and side panels.

Youll have to take a spin up here and show us when its all road legal

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Thanks Guys,

I conquered the 500 dummy run of fixing the kicker situ the problem is the nut is too tight on the crank pulley to get off so I can get the clutch cover off to fix the 350 kicker problem.

At least I know how to fix it. Just need the help of the friendly garage owner (bike nut) to get my nut off

Just need to spay up the tank, might even put more bullet hole transfers on.

Anyone heard from Lowuk. I sent him payment for tank so hope he's ok and got it.

Thank you Rob for posting the pix for me. ;)

Cheers,

Keith.

...I with Aleman on this one ...I too have bullet holes and when I parked up to go the bank some chap actually asked me 'Isn't that dangerous leaving it like that?..Doesn't the petrol leak out everywhere?'... Bless!

I srubbed them clean and air dried then bought some "plasticoat" transparent spray for plastics.
Can be a primer or finisher.
I then bought from Halfords Vauxhall Leaf Green spray cans. It works out probably more expensive than buying a big can using a air pressure method but very convenient if no power in shed or only enough funds at any given time.

Not the stongest of paints though but cheap enough to touch up.

Recent update: 7th December 2009.

Just 2 things to sort out prior to test run.

The tank I required has a small leak near the seat. Will need to get sealant and see if I can
do both tanks.

Had problems with rear brake system.

Sorted the leak but function not too good but anyway I brloke the Banjo bolt.

Wondering if there's a cheap but functional rear brake caliper out there, I have all the other bits.

Going to scrounge on the "wanted" post.

Wish me luck and hope all done early in the new year...should be ready for spring then.
Only 12 months behind schedule

Cheers for reading.
