Back again!

Post by justabof » Wed Jul 26, 2017 4:50 pm

Well, I was around for a while a few years ago. I had an MT500 and MT350 for a while, but sold them. I was looking on Ebay and saw an 'unusual' MT640 and I brought it home today!
I'm going out for a little run shortly - wish me luck!

Allan.

Yes, it's the camo one. The jury's out on retaining that colour scheme. I'll not do anything for a while to see if it grows on me.
The bike went fine this evening, although it seems a bit under-geared to me. Having said that, roll the throttle open at 60 and it takes-off quite nicely.
I'll have a look at the size of the gearbox sprocket over the weekend and make a few tweaks to controls, mirrors etc.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

I'm already finding a few 'idiosyncracies' with the 640 (as you do,) so I'll be asking a few questions soon.

You will find non-standard features , if it was modded by the guy I think it was he did 4 bikes modifying his design every time It could be the bike he rode back from Italy or thereabouts with a failed rear wheelbearing

Yes, it's been modified a great deal. Most of the changes improve it from standard, but I think I'd like to revert to the standard headlight cowling (it has a circular headlamp now.)

About the head lamp, the MT headlamp isnt the best i would of thought the headlamp was changed for night riding rather than looks, most of us with the square headlamp cant see at night unless you eat a few carrots,im sure youl find the parts you need, good luck
