Re: Big Meet 2017 -Shropshire 21- 23 April
Only 2 weeks away now and looking forward to it. Just a few things to mention while I remember
please bring your own cups , plates , cutlery, as these will not be provided
As always, the event only works if everyone is prepared to get involved and do a bit ,eg. helping out with the cooking, , keeping the place tidy, , washing up pots ,setting up and packing up. Many hands make light work !
As already mentioned , we are all mature adults ! And we don't want to upset the site owners and other campers , so please be considerate and no playing silly beggars churning up the fields with bikes and making excessive noise etc
We need plenty of fold up deckchairs for everyone , so if you are arriving on 4 wheels please can you bring a few , to help out those who arrive by bike and won't have their own
We will be doing a road ride out on the Saturday to places of interest, a leisurely run taking in some good roads for any who want to do that , details to follow.
I know that some will be going green laning doing their own thing, (that will not be a club organised activity ).
Probably goes without saying , but advisable to carry a spare clutch cable and cambelt on a rideout, (common cause of breakdown and easily fixed) , and give your bike a good check over before the weekend.
As always, a serious point, please do not run gas / fossil fuel stoves, heaters , barbecues etc in tents or vans. carbon monoxide is a killer , and sadly people die on camp sites every year
Thank you

Re: Big Meet 2017 Offroad group
I have today copied a fellow TRF members maps of South Shropshire and can advise that the greenlanes look fantastic.
There appear to be lots of them and some appear to be long and technical.
If anyone has a greenlane capable gps (and knows how to use it), than I can send them a gpx file and they can lead.
Otherwise it's me and my OS maps with frequent stops to consult the same.

YOU REALY DONT WANT TO BE DRIVING UP THIS IN YOUR CAMPERVAN

A5 Oswestry, Shrewsbury, A49 Church Stretton, when in church stretton go over the roundabout onto Bur Way and up onto the Long Mynd, take the first road you come to on your right follow this to the end turn right and the campsite is immediately on your left.I am not saying that this is the best rout to take, but it is the best one I can explain with my limited knowlage of the written word.twmtomos1 wrote:Heading from the A483 Wrexham area which is the best route thanks

Calling anyone in/around/travelling through the South Yorkshire area (Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield etc) going to the big meet...
I'm traveling from Sheffield on the Friday setting off around 10ish. I'm wondering If anyone fancies meeting up for the ride down
If you're up for it, send me a pm and we'll find a suitable meeting place (possibly Meadowhall??, easy to find and near to the M1).
I'm intending to go through the Peaks across to Leek and then on to Market Drayton, Shrewsbury and on to Ratlinghope. (around 100 miles and 3.5 hours according to google maps). Should be a pleasant ride if the weather is kind
Cheers
