If I understand you right that means, that it´s supposed to be seen in my pic, but it´s unfortunalety not there ? Then I guess I have to take the cam belt apart and disintegrate ( :) ) the whole stuff for finding the pieces... :(

By the way, when is the right time to change the belt ? If I take everything apart, should I change some "standard to be changed" stuff or will it work ? The speedo shows 7700 miles...

If you're removing the belt with a view to reusing it mark it with an arrow to make sure it is refitted to run in the same direction.

We established contact, for skragan lives about 30 mls from my home. I think, there will be a lot of detail we have to discuss the next time, and he´ll really clean up all the UK spare parts.

Excellent news, he will benefit greatly from your assistance.

Remember to ask here first for parts, some of us have spares..

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Today I had some time left to spend on the bike. After having talked to trecce, I was highly motivated to get it going. First of all I drained the remaining oil:

Then I found out, that for taking the cam belt drive apart, I need a special lock screw - available with part number "whatever", it said in the service manual. So I made one by myself... good enough I guess.

Image

Following, I marked all the needed spots after locking the crank.

Then I encountered the first trouble: In the manual it said "using an adequate tool" - how the heck can I loosen the cam shaft screw ? I found out after quite some time hurting myself trying to do it by hand.

Image

Now the big question for today: I have to remove the lower wheel on the crank. Can I just use a wrench for the nut ? Will the crank lock screw hold the stuff ? How do I do it ?

Thanks,

The crank locking bolt you made, if good enough, should hold the crank in place, firmly enough for you to undo the lower pulley nut.

Because the pulley is likely to be a bit delicate, you will probably need some type of three legged pulley puller to get it off.

Hope that is of some use

After not finding a puller on saturday I ordered a set on ebay - and also some other stuff like molykote lube, standard grease, WD40 and a torque wrench, which I needed anyway. So maybe on the next weekend I will find out, what´s wrong with the f****** clutch

Maybe I will work on the exhaust pipe meanwhile, taking care of some very, very tiny corrosion marks, since trecce told me, they aren´t available anymore. But I´m planning to build a complete exhaust new out of stainless steel, luckily I have two friend living close, who can help me with that. But that´s some future plan, right after getting it registered and riding around the first time with a license plate...

Stay tuned ;)

BTW: If I totally mess up some english, please feel free to correct me - I must learn.

just a note... it is always easier to undo something if it is still attached to something larger.

To undo the cam and crank bolt/nut (and re tighten) do it with the cam belt fitted and the lock nut inplace on the crank.
