Hello there,
Might be opening up a whole can of worms but does anyone have any history on my MT500?
Reg D671 UNT
Chassis 001906
Engine 212511
Military Reg 61KG27
The military record card says it never went to a unit. Started service 1987, disposed of 2001 by auction.
1 keeper in Shropshire, then 1 in Devon who I purchased it off this year.
MOT recorded mileage backs up the low value when I purchased it as 2400km, HOWEVER, certain internals that Minter has seen, and consumables such as break shoes and general wear would possibly indicate much higher mileage, any suggestions?
Was going to put photos up but being thick I can't find how to!

Re: Can of worms?
Not unusual for bikes to be stripped to keep others going and all sorts of parts to be swapped around clocks changed reg plates mixed up, stuff stuck together for disposal/sale etc "low mileage" bikes may just have a low mileage speedo.

And one owner in Ringwood! This was my bike for a while! I bought it from Shrewsbury and had an epic ride home (recorded on this forum!). When I bought it had an all over rattle can camo paint job - all over EVERYTHING. (PM me if you want some of the as bought pictures)
When I sold it in 2014 it had 2139KM on the clock. It had a plan alloy rear wheel. This was it just before I sold it
I am sure the mileage was incorrect - the amal carb was well worn - both needle and needle jet. It ran well though
I replaced carb internals, added a new silencer and fully serviced it and sorted the cosmetics.
Cheers

It may have gone straight to storage ready for the cold war to go hot. Would have been a good buy for the first civi owner.
I would have thought it would at least have a depot recorded.
