That engine looks great, after you rubbed it down did you spray it in one piece? BBQ paint?

Looks fantastic Mick, I knew it would be happy with you :-)

Just one point:
i would suggest it's worth the struggle of using the 350 saddle as opposed to converting the 500 one ,
just my observation
From a club perspective, I always oppose this. There are limited 350 'saddles'/ 'engine shoes' out there, just one per frame, maybe a couple of spares BUT once they are gone, we will in the future be having frames but no shoes...Id much rather promote working with what you have. Just me looking long term thats all.

Fantastic job.

Good to see the bottle of Kurust, I've found it very good for both old bikes and narrowboats for those places you just cannot get the rust out of.
