I bought it..My Ride....The Myth...
Hi all
I bought it today... I insured it today (£103).. MOT'd it today...
I'm going to register it on monday.
The MOT'r was in the RAF for 20+ years and raced these bikes while in service and was very interested in this bike.
He looked round it, checked everything and its true.. the myth!
Original wheels still true, tyres still new, chain and even oil.. with now 390 miles on the clock.
It rode lovly to the test center passed with no problems and rode fantastic home after he'd looked round it and re assured me.
Really look forward to going to events and meeting up with you guys.
Lemme know what you think of the pictures.

Well..
I first saw this bike years ago, maybe 7 years ago when I was shooting rabbits on the owners land.
It belonged to a 74 year old chap who collected various military hardware over the years.
Apparently he did have alot of these bike and this was the last one..
Its been kept in a watertight barn under a sheet (to protect agaisnt bat shet) and started every now and then (for the last 12 years).
The MOT'r said he'd had experience of these bikes while in service being pulled out of storage, used i.e. he raced them for the RAF then put through the tank wash, serviced and put back to storage ready for action. He thought it could be one of these bikes....
Maybe it was the furthest one at the back and got the least use..
The MOT'r had a quite a close look round the bike and also said "this one hasn't done any work... nothing is worn, things like front mudguards get chipped, the rims end up square, but this one is a good find.
The tank is free from rust.. dont ask me how but it is.. the tyres have been kept out of UV light and show no sign of any perishing.
I can start it on the 4-5 kick from cold and 2-3 when warm.
The carb to head rubber looks fine but I think I will change the belt at home and not wait for it to snap while out on the road.
On the way back from the test centre after the once over I opened it up more and it pulled smoothly up to 70(maybe plus a bit)MPH.
It went straight through the MOT just needing a new battery.
Now i've taken more pictures what do you guys think? is anything missing? look wrong?
I'm going to get the seat recovered or maybe try and find a spotless new original if one exists..!
£400 for the exhaust?
Makes me wonder if I should keep it?
BTW whats Ashcrofts sunday best?

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
