I found out where the Dakota involved lives:
A little air museum in upstate New York. We were talking to one of the guys at the museum who flew her over the Atlantic for the celebrations. He very kindly showed us round the inside of the plane. Small world!
Remember the paratroop drop at Normandy last June?

Interesting. Surprised it had the range to do the Atlantic. Must have carried a lot of extra fuel. Brave pilot though...

They stopped in Nova Scotia, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland then France!Thumper wrote:Interesting. Surprised it had the range to do the Atlantic. Must have carried a lot of extra fuel. Brave pilot though...
The guy we were speaking to was the maintenance director of the museum and also flew a number of the legs to and from Europe. He said that other than basic maintenance which they had provision for, the old bird behaved faultlessly.
