I have had a detailed look at the ferry option and although it is much cheaper, we lose by arriving later in the day. Therefore making things on the first day a bit rushed. Waterloo is 140 miles from Calais and about 2h 10min, Bastogne a further 84 miles and 1h 30min. These times are based on motorway speeds and not the speeds we will be doing, between 55 -65 mph.

At the moment the ferry is Â£34 and Chunnel is Â£66. These prices will go up the near you get to the departure date. The earlier ferry leaves a 04.20 and gets in 07.30. Each member would have to book their own ferry, whereas with the train one person can book and have lots of different reg nos. The train has a 2 hour window of grace either side of your departure so if early or late, they will get you on the next train at no extra cost.

I have now gone as far with this as I can. I cannot proceed without your co-operation (details) if I'm to book.
