A Bit of a Repair Going on....

Pretty much complete now. Wheels need to go back on as soon as I have the new plastics fitted. Speedo is all wired in and working. Fuel tank now painted and lacquered along with the side panels.

Well its nearly done. Lots of new parts fitted and custom made such as spacers and bushes. I love owning a lathe!!

I am not sure what the plastics were originally made for as Paul had them shipped direct, but with a bit of machining for new spacers to drop it 15mm at the back and cutting a couple of inches away under the seat it makes a really nice fit. I lowered the front mudguard by 10mm using new spacers as well to clear the exhaust pipe rather than cut the mudguard down which had been don previously.

I think the Ascerbis tool bag adds a nice bit of utility and fills the dead space behind the seat nicely. I am just waiting for some webbing to arrive to run a lifting strap across the back of the seat using the old rack mounting lugs. Gives you something to man handle the bike with rather than pulling on the plastics and makes use of the lugs.

I have also modified the exhaust mounts now so that it sits correctly and does not foul the springs. Repositioned them and machined up spacers.

I should get the wheels stuck on over the weekend which have been fully rebuilt, powder coated and stainless spokes. Once they are on I will road test it and the phoenix has risen!!

Are swingarm and frontend parts just polished, or is there something on to protect them shining? At first look i assumed you had some expensive/rare/unknown custom parts, but then i saw HD-logo.

who s make are the exhaust headers and are they stainless , looking good

Swingarm is powder coated in a metallic silver finish. The other stuff has been polished, the high level of polish naturally protects them.

I am not sure where the headers came from, perhaps Paul or Steve could enlighten us as they were on the bike pre crash!

Some lovely little touches making it special. I don't even clean mine, I wish I could make mine into a nice one but it would look like it had been found in a field within the year. Good job, well done.
