RTTW 2014 - Ride to the Wall - Sat 4th October 2014

I will be doing this again this year, setting off from the Cherwell Services (M40) start point.
Anyone else doing it ? It would be good to meet up.

It's usually a great day out, with thousands of bikers attending to pay their respects, also helps raise money for the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum.

National Memorial Arboretum
Croxall Road
Alrewas
Staffordshire

Very brief overview
On the 4th October 2014 we will see the seventh year of Ride to the Wall. The event is a unique and moving experience for many people. Originally founded in 2008 for the motorcycle community, it now sees people both young and old from the UK, Europe and further afield coming together in a moving emotional service to remember the names engraved on the walls of the Armed Forces Memorial, which is situated within the of the National Memorial Arboretum.

I am going with my Peak Riders Chapter. A very moving and poignant day.

Well worth doing and should be 20,000 there.

I'm meeting up with the Beds RBL Riders, starting at the Truck Stop, Jn 13 M1 Northbound at 07:15, to met up witht eh main group at Northampton Services on the M1, ready to leave from 08:53

Was going to take the BMW, but a broken oil pipe means I'll be on an MT350, hope they don't go too fast ;)

Fixed the oil pipe on the BMW (15 minute job, but 3 hours getting the fairings off and back on), and as it looks like bad weather, I think I'll leave the MT at home.

First time I've not taken the MT, but I usually have a bimble along the A5 to Drayton Manor, but joined the Northampton group this time

Took the BMW R1100RT, the MT350 would not have kept up with the trip up the M1 / M6. might have been an average of 60mph, but with many miles of roadworks, the must have averaged 70 for the rest.

Sorry, I did not notice an MT all day, with or without puncture. Do you carry a spare tube and tools or was it a bunker home?

No i dont carry spare tube  had to rely on a very good friend nipping home and fetching his van, But i will be looking into carrying a spare from now on or a can of the foam repair stuff (Any body had experience with this type of repair )???? When i'm out on my RF 900 i carry a puncture kit (mushroom type) but they are only for tubeless .
